African Hosta is considered native to Tanzania and South Africa. African Hosta is a low growing plant that spreads across through bulbs. African Hosta is a new kid on the block and is quite a rare and exotic find. The leaves of African Hosta are bright green to deep green and develop unique gray spots as they mature. The leaves are shaped like a spoon and are pointed on one end. African Hosta depicts succulent-like characteristics. Under right conditions, African Hosta could also produce white colored blooms in the shape of a ball. Also known as Drimiopsis Maculata, Maculata means spotted which refers to the unique and attractive spotted leaves of African Hosta. It could lose leaves and go into dormant phase during winters.
